Your Year-End Gift to South Chicago Parents & Friends Will Be Supersized This Year!
We are very honored to be a part of the 2023 Coleman Challenge Grant, running from November 1 through December 31, 2023. The Coleman Foundation will offer a one-to-one match for each dollar donated to SCPF during that time-frame, up to $25,000. Every contribution counts twice!
Now that we have vibrant community day service programs up and running at both our Chicago and Dolton centers, we are ready to get cooking — literally! Funds raised this year-end will go to upgrading our kitchen spaces with appliances and tools to aid our consumers in developing kitchen skills.
Learning one’s way around the kitchen has many advantages, including understanding the importance of nutrition; increasing independence; boosting self-confidence; encouraging social interaction; and providing opportunities for creativity. In addition to these general benefits, learning to cook can also help adults with intellectual disabilities to develop fine motor skills, the ability to follow directions, problem solving, and safety skills.
The kitchens at both centers are essentially blank slates, ready to be outfitted with implements, appliances, and storage. With the matching funds from the Coleman Foundation, we will be able to equip both sites equally with each contribution! We can have duplicate cookbook collections, measuring cups, and blenders. If one center receives a chest freezer from your $500 donation, so will the other. The prospect is so exciting, we can’t wait to get cooking!
YES, I want to help South Chicago Parents & Friends enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities!
Your tax-deductible gift makes such a difference to so many! Thank you!
